These are chemicals in your inventory that have a valid barcode but that you no longer want or need. Use this procedure for chemicals in your inventory only.
- Select the "Waste" icon. This will take you to a listing of all waste containers currently in your inventory.
- Click on "+Add a Waste Label" button, upper left.
- You may need to set up a new Profile if you get this message: No Waste Profile found
- If so, click Yes and fill out the required information. Click "Save"
- Ensure the correct location is listed in your Waste Profile. If not, choose the correct location.
- Scroll down to Container 1.
- Change settings to Waste Type: Chemicals-Unused and Entry Type: Standard
- Select "Search"
- Select "Show PI's Inventory"
- Scan the barcode in the blank space or Scroll until you find the container you want to dispose and click "Select"
- A popup will appear: "Apply Chemical Inventory container details?", click "Yes"
- Complete "Container Type" and any other fields in the request that are known to you.
- Under Container Contents, type the Container size into the "Quantity" field
- Quantity Disposed with auto populate with the container size.
- Choose from the list of hazards. If you are unsure of the hazards, choose Environmental Hazard.
- If you have more items to dispose of, click "Add Container"
- Perform steps 7 through 15 until you have selected all the chemicals you need to dispose of.
- When complete, click "Save"
- A box will pop up: "Would you like to Submit this request for pickup or Save this request?"
- If you click on “"Save", you will see this message "Save Successful". Click "OK" and you will be returned to the listing of waste containers with the new container at the top of the list.
- If you want to add waste to this pick up request, highlight the request in red and click "Edit a Waste Label". You will be able to start adding where you left off.
- You can request a waste pick up in one of two ways:
- When you Save your waste containers, you can choose "Save and Submit" and your waste will be submitted to EH&S for pick up.
- When you are on the Waste Request page, you can choose "Request Pickup" and your waste will be submitted to EH&S for pick up. The message will change to "Request Received"
- Attach a green "Hazardous Waste" sticker (EHS provided, contact us if you need more) to the container. Place it so as not to obscure any other information – the container top is likely the best place. There is no need to print or attach a paper label.
