These instructions apply to entering waste information for waste that has no assignable ORS source number.  Common examples are the "CHIPS" containers accumulated in ORS.

  1. Add an In-Lab RAM Waste Container when a new container is placed in the lab.
  2. Click "EHSA".
  3. Click "Waste".
  4. Click "RAM Waste Containers" under the "RAM Waste" heading.
  5. Next to "View", select "All" in the first drop-down, and "Current" in the second drop-down.
  6. Click the small black arrow next to the applicable in-lab waste container in the  "Container/Drain #" column.  
  7. Click "+Add" under the container number.
  8. Select the Authorized User to whom the waste belongs in the "PI Origin" field. If the Authorized User is unknown, enter the RSO as the Authorized User.
  9. Click "Select Isotope" and choose the isotope with the correct license line number.
  10. Leave "Container Type" blank.
  11. In the "Comments" field type a brief description of the waste placed in the container, e.g., gloves, bench paper, pipette tips, buffer solution, etc.
  12. Leave the "Orig Inventory #" field blank.
  13. Select the physical form of the waste in the "Waste Type" field.
  14. Indicate the date the waste was picked up in the "Receipt Date" field.
  15. Indicate the activity of the waste picked up in the "Receipt Activity" field
  16. Click "Save". This will take you back to the "RAM Waste Container" view.
